Days 1 & 2: The work week looked a little different for me during this week as I was away from the branch getting Family Place training. I was able to take in a lot information for facilitating parent-child workshops, partnerships, collaborations and outreach and looking beyond story time for programming for early childhood. Sitting in these training sessions sparked some ideas for me in terms of programming and outreach. Days 3 & 4: The days consisted of learning about creating our spaces, taking a tour of Round Rock Public Library's children's area, children and brain development, connecting with parents, building a parenting collection, marketing and public relations and evaluation and documentation. The days went by quick, especially the last day. It was great to hear from our trainers that we can reach out to them when we find ourselves with questions that pop up along the way. I am now officially Family Place trained! "Public libraries will become vital centers for early learning, parent engagement, family support and community connectivity ensuring children get the best start in life." - Family Place Libraries Vision Statement
